When does school start in Spartanburg County?

All Spartanburg County School Districts start back up again on Monday, August 19th, 2019!

Back to School Events

For Rising K4s/K5s and their Families: Countdown to Kindergarten at The Children’s Museum Spartanburg: Friday, August 2nd from 6 pm – 8 pm. Free admission.

This event is specifically designed for children that will attend K4/K5 in fall of 2019 and their families. Kindergartners will not only get lots of goodies but they will also get to carry a lunch tray and sit down in a mock kindergarten classroom.

For Rising Kindergartners and their Families: Countdown to Kindergarten at The Children’s Museum Greenville: Friday, August 9th from 6 pm – 8 pm. Free admission.

Countdown to Kindergarten provides parents with an opportunity to connect with representatives from state agencies and community organizations to learn about available educational, health and community resources. Let the countdown begin!

Enjoy free vision screenings, music and dance! See a real fire truck and learn safety skills. This event is open to the public, but especially for Greenville County families. Greenville County Schools will be in attendance to sign families up for free and reduced lunch and share information regarding healthy school lunch offerings.

This event is specifically designed for children that will attend Kindergarten (K5) in fall of 2019 and their families. Kindergartners will not only get lots of goodies but they will also get to carry a lunch tray and sit down in a mock kindergarten classroom.

United Way – Collect supplies for Spartanburg kids and donate to United Way’s Stuff the Bus Program before August 1st. These supplies are distributed to all Spartanburg school districts and given to students in need.

SC Tax-Free Weekend – August 2nd – 4th, 2019

Packs For Kids District 2 School Supply Giveaway will be held on August 17th from 1 pm – 5 pm at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church.

Special Storytime Event: Tiptoe Into Kindergarten will be held on August 15th at 10:30 am at Landrum Library.

Create Your Own Back to School Event! Gather your neighbors and friends together for a “Countdown to Kindergarten” afternoon or evening event! This can be as simple or as involved as you like, but focus on allowing your rising kindergarteners to meet some new friends and become familiar with faces that they will be seeing the first day of school. Host the event at your home, a neighborhood clubhouse, or check out Kidding Around Spartanburg’s list of Kid’s Eat Free hot spots and go out for a night on the town. Invite your school Principal or Assistant Principal. You never know, they may be so excited to swing by and have an informal “meet and greet!”
