Things might look a little different when you head back to the movie theatres. We’ve listed what you can expect from the two main local movie houses. Reduced theatre capacity and changes at the concessions are just a few of the ways Regal Cinemas and NCG cinema will be keeping patrons safer.
Movie Theaters Open in the Upstate
Several movie theatres in the Upstate have re-opened with many adhering to policies and practices articulated by the CinemaSafe program, which was developed by epidemiologists with the aim of a safe return to the movies. While you can enjoy the same comfort and joy that only a movie on the big screen can bring, you can expect some changes to your movie theatre experience, which might include
- Reduced theatre capacity and socially-distanced seating;
- Staff and guests wearing masks;
- Reduced points of contact and enhanced cleaning;
- Improved air filtration;
- Employee health training; and
- Modified concessions.

Cheap Movies Near Spartanburg
Some area movie theaters offer kids movie packages including a movie ticket, popcorn, and drinks. With plenty of hot afternoons ahead and cranky kids to entertain, catching one of these movies would be the perfect way to spend your afternoon.

$5 Tickets Every Tuesday at NCG Cinema in Spartanburg
Tickets for most showtimes on Tuesdays are only $5. Some restrictions may apply so make sure you check NCG’s website or call before heading to the cinema.
$5 Movie Deals at Big E in Gaffney
The $5 Summer Movie Series at The Big E in Gaffney returns in June 2021. Movies are screened Monday-Saturday at 10:30 am. In previous years, the package included a second run movie viewing, popcorn, soda, and a $2 game card. Check The Big E’s website for the most up-to-date information on this movie series.
$1 Movies in Greenville
Regal Cinema’s Summer Movie Express is back and offered all summer long starting on June 8, 2021!
These $1 movies are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 am. All movies are rated either G or PG. Two movies are available each day. The full movie schedule is published on their website and includes some of my family’s favorites like The Lego Movie (and several others from the Lego franchise!), The Muppet Movie, Sing, and Despicable Me.

AmStar 14 offers a Super Saver Tuesday. Guests are encouraged to contact the theater for details.
Cheap Movies in Easley, Seneca, & Greenwood
Premiere Cinemas in Easley, Seneca, and Greenwood offer $4 movie family classics like Harry Potter, The Hobbit and Secret Life of Pets. The 2021 movie series has yet to be announced.
