Movie Theaters Are Re-Opening in Spartanburg & Some Have Cheap Family Friendly Movie Deals

Looking for cheap movies this summer? Many theaters are beginning to reopen for the summer and some are offering low-cost family movie deals. Find out what Spartanburg area movie theaters are doing to keep movie goers healthy and about their re-opening policies. Plus, check out our list of cheap movie options near Spartanburg this summer!

Nothing helps you escape the problems of the world like immersing yourself in a great movie! Summertime is known for big blockbuster movies and summertime deals on second-run movies. Theatres are starting to re-open just in time to get lost in a world “far, far away”!

Things might look a little different when you head back to the movie theatres. We’ve listed what you can expect from the two main local movie houses. Reduced theatre capacity and changes at the concessions are just a few of the ways Regal Cinemas and NCG cinema will be keeping patrons safer.

Spartanburg Movie Theaters are Re-opening

Regal Cinemas

Regal Cinemas will be re-opening July 10th, making changes that will include:

  • Contactless payment will be available at the theatre, online ticket sales as well as online purchases of concessions.
  • The use of ULV foggers will sanitize every auditorium and seat after each movie using new electrostatic ‘fogger’ equipment.
  • Regal employees will undergo daily temp checks, be required to wash hands frequently, and where the law requires to wear masks.
  • Arcade games and vending machines will be closed, as well as drinking fountains.
  • Patrons will be encouraged to enter the theatre and head straight to their seats.
  • The concession menu will be reduced, and refills on large-sized sodas and popcorn will be suspended.
  • Self-serve condiment areas will be closed.
  • The theaters will operate at a 50% capacity. When patrons use the online reservation system, it will block out 2 seats between each party.

Movies at NCG Cinema in Spartanburg

NCG Cinema

NCG Cinema has begun the process of re-opening its locations, but a date for the Spartanburg location has not been announced.

When the theatre does re-open, policy changes will include:

  • Masks and gloves will be required for all employees.
  • Temperature checks and health screenings will be done on employees.
  • Coca-Cola Freestyle and ICEE machines will be available for customers to use but will be sanitized after each use.
  • Free refills on all soft drinks, frozen drinks, and popcorn will continue, with employees using precautionary measures.
  • Contactless payment will be available at the theatre, and customers are urged to not use cash for payment.
  • Sneeze guards will be installed at the point of sale stations, and social distancing stickers will be on the floors.
  • Arcade games and vending machines will be closed, as well as drinking fountains.
  • Closed caption headsets will not be available.
  • The theatres will operate at a 30% capacity. Patrons are asked to leave 2 empty seats between each party.
  • Seats, armrests, handrails, door handles, and cupholders will be properly disinfected between every show.

Big E Gaffney offers a summer movie series for kids. Shows run Monday – Saturday at 10:30 am. The $5 price includes the movie ticket + popcorn, 16 oz drink, and a $2 arcade card.
