Are you ready for February in Spartanburg, SC? We have a list of 28+ kid-approved things to do in Spartanburg this February, one for each day of the month!

Special Events Just in February

Don’t forget to pick up your Pepsi Party pack if your child turned 6 in January or turns 6 in February. Dates for pickup this month are February 4-8, 2019 only.

Paint It Up in Chesnee is hosting a Valentine’s Day Kid’s Painting Class on February 1, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. $10.

Home Depot offers a free children’s workshop each first Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. On Saturday, February 2, 2019 your child can make (and keep) a heart-shaped candy box!

Spartanburg Science Center is hosting an Owl Prowl on February 2, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Bring a flashlight and get to hear owls and frogs in their natural habitat. $5 per person; $3 for Science Center members. Sign-up required.

Boiling Springs Library is hosting a Chinese New Year Craft Celebration on February 7, 2019 at 4:00 pm.

Black History Month Chautauqua featuring Rosa Parks will be held on February 7, 2019 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Headquarters Library. This free event brings Rosa Parks to life.

Seussical, Jr. comes to life in a production the whole family will love. This show lasts 2 days only, February 15th & 16th, 2019 at Spartanburg Youth Theatre.

Spartanburg Philharmonic will be performing Romeo and Juliet – a night of orchestral passion features soaring cinematic arrangements from some of the most romantic stories of all time. This concert will take place at Twichell Auditorium on February 16, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

Black History Month Scavenger Hunt will lead tweens (10-12 year olds) through the Headquarters Library to learn the history. This will take place on February 19, 2019 at 4:30 pm.

Gullah Night at Headquarters Library on February 21, 2019 at 7:00 pm. A presentation by Donald Sweeper about the history of the Gullah language followed by a story telling in Gullah for Black History Month.

Don’t Forget About These Weekly Events!

If you haven’t visited Big Air Trampoline Park yet you can take your little ones (up to age 7) to Toddler Time any Wednesday & Thursday from 10 am – 1 pm. $8 gets your child up to 3 full hours of fun (and will probably buy you a good afternoon nap too!).

Gattitown holds a free Magic Show with Balloon Art every Friday night from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. Grab your family and make it a fun night out!

Preschool Open Jump for kids 6 and under happens from 10 am – 2 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at Pump It Up. Your little one can climb, bounce and play until they can’t climb, bounce or play any longer!

Chapman Cultural Center is open for Sundays Unplugged from 2 – 4 pm every Sunday to offer a casual and cultural experience for those who wish to unplug! Admission is free!

Chik-Fil-A of Boiling Springs offers a Books Come Alive program at 10:30 on Thursday mornings.

Worth a Trip to Greenville

Cheer on the Swamp Rabbits Hockey Team at Bon Secours Wellness Arena at one of their 6 February home games. February 1, 2019 is Pirates and Princess Night, and February 17, 2019 is Marvel Night.

South Carolina Children’s Theatre production of Mr. Popper’s Penguins runs January 26th – February 3rd at Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre.

Family Fun Day at Upcountry History Museum on February 2, 2019 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This family fun day is Snoopy and Valentine’s Day themed! In addition to storytime, there will also be crafts and games.

Monster Jam is adrenaline-charged family entertainment featuring some of the most recognizable trucks in the world including Grave Digger ®, Max-DTM and many more. This event is happening at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on February 8 – 9, 2019.

STEM Fest at Roper Mountain Science Center–This 2nd Saturday event (February 9, 2019) at RMSC will last from 9 am – 3 pm and includes many fun STEM based activities as well as access to the marine lab, rain forest, and planetarium. 2019 prices are $8/adults and teens and $7/children (ages 4-12). Children 3 and under, RMSC members, and GCSD employees with a pass can all attend for free. Be sure to either bring cash or purchase your tickets ahead of time online.

Cardboard Regatta happens on February 23rd from 2 – 5 pm at the Greenville County Aquatic Complex –Register as a team to build a boat and then compete for a number of prize categories. Family entry fee is just $15.

Library Events Not to Miss in February

We like to give you a heads up on what’s going on at the library since many of these events require pre-registration and will fill up. All library events are free.

The Spartanburg County libraries are hosting tons of Valentine Events for the ages of all your kids like these:

Head over to Headquarters Library for PIP-Pretty Important Preschooler Story Time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 11:00 am for a special story time just for kids 3 – 6 years old.

Honey Bears Sensory Story Time happens the first Saturday of every month at Headquarters Library.  Stories, chants, rhythms and sensory play for kids 12 and under.

Rockin’ Babies is a fun music party for kids 3 and under every Thursday morning at 10 – 10:30 am at Headquarters Library.

Little Sprouts Day Out at Headquarters Library happening Friday, February 8th and Saturday, February 9th at 11:30 am. Aimed as a drop-in playdate the second weekend of the month, families with children aged birth to three are welcome to make crafts, laughs, and memories in the storytime room while engaging in imaginative play.

Parent/Child Dates

I know that Father/Daughter and Mother/Son date events can sound a little exclusive. If you like the theme of an event and your family doesn’t perfectly fit the category, don’t be afraid to call and ask if you can still register. Many venues just want parents to have fun with their kids.

Daddy Daughter Dance – Don’t miss a date with your daughter this year at our annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Friday evening, February 8, 2019  at the Cleveland Park Event Center. The evening will include a seated dinner and a night of dancing as our DJ spins your favorite dancing tunes. A great opportunity to make those lasting memories that will be cherished for a lifetime! Tickets are $25 per person, which includes dinner, dancing, and a souvenir photo. (Ages five and up.)

Daddy Daughter Date Night happens Friday, February 8, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Hearts of Clay Pottery Painting Studio – It’s their annual Valentine’s Daddy Daughter Date Night with chocolate, candies, cookies, soft drinks and water. Cost is $5 per family plus cost of whatever pottery you choose to paint.

Mommy and Me Paint Class on Valentine’s Day from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm at Landrum Library. All materials provided and light refreshment will be served. Sign up required.

Looking for a date for the whole family? Visit SAM Family Funday: DIY Valentine’s Day Prints on February 3, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Families can craft Valentine’s Day Prints at this Drop-In event hosted by Spartanburg Art Museum. $5 per person.

Parents Need Fun Too

The PopUp Arcade at Ciclops Cyderi & Brewery on February 8-9, 2019 from 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM. Gaming is FREE, but you must be a patron of CC&B. Children 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult at all times, but after 8:00 pm it is an event for those 21+ only.

Hearts Of Clay is offering Galentine’s Day event on February 13, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Take your best girlfriends and celebrate one another at this special event. $5 fee for admission plus the cost of the pottery you paint.

Coming Up in March

Annual Character Breakfast–We just want to give you a heads up that the South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s annual Character Breakfast is coming up on Saturday, March 9, 2019. This breakfast is a significant event in that it’s the only chance in Greenville to experience 30 characters at the same event and it’s really a magical moment for the children who attend. It’s also an event that typically sells out, so now is the time to book your seats. Find more information on the SCCT website.
