TCMU Spartanburg WILL have Summer 2020 camps for children ages 3-6 beginning June 8!

Camps run weeklong, Monday – Friday, 9am – 12pm.

  • June 8-12- Space: Calling future astronauts and space explorers! Join us for a week of out of this world activities and exhibit challenges about aliens, planets and constellations with a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 15-19- Great Outdoors: Let’s bring the outdoors in as we learn about plants, creepy crawlies, pretend to go camping and more! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 22-26- Summer Fun: Join us this week to celebrate all the joys of summer! From ice cream, to fishing, to amusement park challenges, this camp will be a fun kick-off on the week of the summer solstice. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 29-July 3- Ocean Life: Let’s pretend to have a week at the beach as we explore the deep blue seas on land! We’ll be learning about lots of different sea creatures and participating in creative water challenges. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 6-10- Jurassic Park: Join us for a week of prehistoric fun as we learn about dinosaurs, create our own and let them invade our exhibits! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 13-17- Animal Explorations: Calling all animal lovers for a week of wild fun. We’ll be exploring and learning about animals in a variety of habitats around the world, including some right in our very own backyards! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 20-24- Natural Wonders: Join us for an imaginary trip around the world as we explore the wonders that Mother Nature has to offer- from the Grand Canyon, to the Amazon, to the Himalayas, we’ll be learning lots of new things while we recreate what we learn in the museum exhibits. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 27-31- Landmarks and Engineering: Join us for another trip around the world, but this time we’ll be exploring the wonders that were made by humans. From the pyramids, to bridges, to the Eiffel Tower, we’ll be learning about principles of engineering and joining in lots of challenges. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • August 3-7- Art Explorations: Calling those who love art, and those who may not yet, but will by the end of this week! We’ll be exploring a different art medium each day, including tie-dye, sculpture and much more. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.

COVID-19 Safety Adaptations: Upon arrival, each child’s temperature will be taken via a digital infrared non-contact thermometer—temperature must be below 100.4 to participate. ​Camp staff members will wear masks, but campers are not required to do so. Camp check-in will be facilitated in front of the building to ensure child safety and appropriate supervision. No outside guests will be allowed into camp classrooms. No backpacks, lunch bags or reusable water bottles will be allowed- campers will be asked to bring snacks in disposable bags and water in disposable bottles, all with the campers’ names on them. Campers must practice social distancing at all times and remain with their own class. Materials and supplies will be provided each day; supplies will not be shared. All materials and classrooms will be sanitized overnight, including surfaces and door handles.

Coast 2 Coast Kids

An affordable, safe childcare center summer camp program for children of all ages with fun activities, field trips, and overnight trips. Camp locations are at Spartanburg’s Upward Star Center, as well as sites in Greenville and Lyman (preschool only).

Spartanburg Science Center

Each summer the John F. Green Spartanburg Science Center offers a wide range of classes and camps for children ages 6 – rising 8th graders. Classes and camps are held weekly. Morning sessions are 9am – Noon and afternoon sessions run 1–4pm.

ELC at Anderson Mill

ELC offers four different camps for children 3 months old – 2nd grade. The camps run from 9am-12pm Monday-Thursday.

YMCA Summer Camp

A variety of half- and full-day camps from June 8-August 14, 2020. Ages 3-13. Registration is available for both Middle Tyger Family YMCA and Thomas E. Hannah YMCA.

Camp Little Brave is a camp hosted by the YMCA for children 3-4 years old on Mondays-Fridays from 9am-1pm. Children will make crafts, play games and have weekly swimming lessons. Cost varies depending on membership.

In addition, YMCA offers several different sports or specialty camps (such as soccer, equestrian and fishing camps) with various dates, age groups and costs. Please see the website for specific information about registering for these camps.

Ballet Spartanburg

Ballet Spartanburg will host more than 20 different camps throughout the summer for children beginning at age 2. Camps and classes range in duration from one hour, half day or full day. Ballet Spartanburg prioritizes the health and safety of its community members and has implemented a COVID-19 protocol.
