Halloween Festivals and Events
We have several massive Halloween festivals for kids in the Upstate. Some of these trick-or-treating events have been around since parents were kids and they are local favorites. Most of these events are non-scary events designed for small children, though I have not personally been to all of them.

Limited capacity—timed ticketing every half hour
CALLING ALL PUMPKINS, ALL WITCHES, ALL GHOSTS AND WIZARDS! Join us for TCMU-Spartanburg’s first ever Trick-or-Treat on Halloween day! Travel through the museum and collect candy from our Spartanburg sponsors and community partners on each floor. For the safety of our community and to significantly reduce crowding, this year’s Trick-or-Treat at TCMU will be TIMED TICKETING ONLY with available time slots every half hour. Families can purchase tickets based on the amount of guests in their party.
Tickets must be purchased online in advance of the event. There will be no onsite ticket sales. ALL TICKET SALES WILL CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30.
- Please arrive on time! No entry outside of time slot will be allowed.
- The museum will be closed to the public during the event. Only ticketed guests are allowed entry.
- Masks are REQUIRED for all adults.
- Trick-or-treating will take place inside the museum.
- Social distancing will apply.
- Each child is required to bring their own bag and must be accompanied by an adult. Limit one bag per child, please!
- Costumes are HIGHLY encouraged!

Prisma Health Boo in the Zoo at the Greenville Zoo is a fun, family-friendly event. Trick or Treat as you walk through the zoo, and enjoy fun, not-so-spooky decorations, fun booths, and a walk through Dragon Alley.
To allow for a fun and safe experience for Boo in the Zoo guests this year, all guests must wear a face covering, trick-or-treaters must bring their own bags, groups are limited to no more than 7, and tickets must be purchased on-line. Tickets will be sold onsite if there is space available. If you have questions about this year’s event, call the zoo at 864.467.4300 or visit the Boo in the Zoo website for more information.
Visit Stewart Farms for wagon rides, farm store, farm animals, honey bee observatory, the SC MAiZE, and a pumpkin patch. The 2020 Fall Season begins on Saturday, September 26th.
Nighttime activities include Big Boo: Family-Friendly Haunted Maize and Nighttime Wagon Rides. These are offered on October 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, 30th, and 31st. While the Big Boo is family-friendly, it is not recommended for children under the age of 6.
2020 Homeschool Days are on Wednesday, September 30th and Thursday, October 1st.

Halloween Activities near Spartanburg
September 18th at 5:30 pm: Halloween Tree Class at Hearts of Clay, Spartanburg
October 16th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 24th, 27th, 29th, 30th, & 31st at various times: Greer Ghost Tour. Learn something new about Greer on this fun walking tour. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children age 5-15, and free for 4 and under. Buy tickets in advance, online.
October 22nd at 6 pm: Free Pumpkin Painting hosted by the Town of Lyman and Creative Soul Art Studio. They provide the paint and you bring your pumpkin. Reserve a space in advance.
October 24th, 2020 at 7 pm: Simply Spooky Movie Night at Heritage Park’s CCNB Amphitheater features a screening of the film “ParaNorman.” The first 1,500 kids will receive a pre-packaged Treat Bag with Halloween-themed candy, toys, games and (of course) hand sanitizer!
October 30th, 2020, 5:30 – 8:30 pm: The Spooktacular Movie Night at Barnet Park includes a screening of the movie “ET’ and other activities. This event is FREE but guests should RSVP to hold their socially-distanced spot. A pizza picnic with snack bucket and water may be purchased in advance for $35.
October 31st, 2020 at 11 am, 1:30 pm, 4 pm, & 6:30 pm: Join Plate 108 for a Halloween Party you won’t want to miss! Glow in the Dark Eyeball Slime! Cupcake Walk! DIY S’mores! Candy! Costume Contest! And more! This event is for kids of all ages and parents are welcome. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased on-line. This is one of several kid- and family-friendly events Plate 108 is offering this fall. Check out their event calendar for more!
October 31st, 2020 from 1 – 4 pm: Sassy Spooktacular at Sassy Stables in Greer includes horseback rides, unicorn pony photos, pumpkin decorating, tractor fun, Halloween treats, and more! Yummy treats from Abbott’s Frozen Custard will also be available. Tickets are pre-sold and are $15 per child.
October 31st, 2020 multiple sessions: Trick or Paint Party Family Event with Painting on Purpose, Greer. Includes music, costume contest, giveaways and much more!

Haunted Houses and Trails Near Spartanburg
Need something a little more scary? Try these haunted houses and trails for some spooky fun!
This attraction makes haunted houses family-friendly. During the day this attraction offers a pumpkin patch, hay bales, cow train, jumping pillow, and more! They also offer day time hours for their haunted hotel. Worried the kids will be scared? Purchase a no scare medallion, which gives the bearer the superpowers to scare off the monsters. Medallions can also be purchased for the evening attractions.
Don’t let the family-friendly fun fool you, Madworld claims to the scariest haunted house in the state.

Admission: General Admission $30 adults/$25 Children /$5 extra for a “No-Touch medallion”
This haunted house sounds like a real thrill and includes “intense audio, lighting effects, fog and mist,” and many other special effects. The 2020 experience also includes a 3-D Haunt and Fun House. It is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
General Admission Tickets are $25 and FastPass Admission is $35. FastPass Admission lets guests bypass the often longer general admission line. Check out The Asylum’s website and social media for discount offers. There is also a $5 discount for active and inactive members of the military. Tickets may be purchased online.

Open Friday and Saturdays from 7 pm to midnight in October, Plus Sunday, October 18th, and 25th from 7 pm to 10:30 pm.

The Boneyard is a haunted trail in Campobello, SC.

Wompus Woods is a haunted woods attraction in Cowpens offering a haunted trail and hayride. You can walk or take the hayride.
