Halloween Festivals and Events

We have several massive Halloween festivals for kids in the Upstate. Some of these trick-or-treating events have been around since us parents were kids and they are local favorites. Most of these events are non-scary events designed for small children, though I have not personally been to all of them.

Boo in the Zoo

Boo in the Zoo at the Greenville Zoo is a fun, family-friendly event. Trick or Treat as you walk through the zoo, and enjoy fun, not-so-spooky decorations, fun booths, and a walk through Dragon Alley.

October 19 -21, and 26-28, 2018

Fridays 5:30 – 8 pm and Saturdays and Sundays 4 – 8 pm.

Boo!seum

October 27 – Boo!Seum: Join TCMU – Greenville for their annual Boo!Seum event! From spooky experiments and ghostly art projects to eerie inventions and mysterious stories, you won’t want to miss this event! Make sure to be there for the annual Pumpkin Splat when they toss pumpkins from the roof. Activities take place from 10 am – 3 pm, Pumpkin Splat takes place at 3 pm.

Enchanted Forest

Trick-or-Treat at the Pavilion through an enchanted forest filled with storybook characters. This event also includes bounce houses, carnival games, and a costume contest with the price of admission.  $5 in advance or $7 at the door.

Halloween Hoopla

Greer City Park, Greer, SC

Hosted by Resurrection Church and The Church at Greer Station, Halloween Hoopla takes place in Greer City Park. This is a free event with a costume contest, carnival games, inflatables, live music, face painting, and much more!

Halloween at Heritage Park

October 27, 2018, 12:30 pm – 7:30 pm- Local groups and organizations gather to provide a Happy Halloween at Heritage Park during this community event! The event will have inflatables, vendors, games, and trick or treating in the evening. This is a FREE event.

Trick or Treating will occur 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

Pumpkin Path at Hatcher Garden

This is a free, family-friendly, non-spooky trick or treat event at Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve. In addition to trick or treat, there are other fun activities.

*While this event is free, financial donations and pantry donations are appreciated. These donations will support The Haven, a shelter for homeless families in Spartanburg. See what items are requested for donation here.

Stewart Farms

864.969.7270 6600 SC Highway 92, Enoree, SC

Experience includes wagon rides, farm store, farm animals, honey bee observatory, the 2016 Culver’s corn maze, and a pumpkin patch. Fall season runs September 22nd – October 28th.

More great places to trick or treat

Trick-or-treating at local stores and schools is a great way to give those Halloween costumes some extra use and fill up your kids’ candy baskets with little effort. These are the stores that either are offering trick-or-treating this year or have in the past but still have not announced their events this year. Want to trick or treat in a neighborhood? Cabelas is hosting the FREE Great Pumpkin Celebration October 20 & 21, 26 – 31 with photos, crafts, games, and trick or treating. See our calendar for specific daily events.

October 26, 2018 – Halloween Fest at Sherman College Health Center This event includes trick-or-treating, games, a food truck, and more. 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

October 27, 2018 – HCFM Halloween Market Take the kids to Hub City Farmer’s Market for some Halloween fun from 8 am – 12 pm.

October 27, 2018 –Autumn Harvest | TD Market Shop Greenville’s local produce while letting your kids trick-or-treat from local vendors. Activities include trick-or-treating, cupcake walks, and a costume contest. Free! 8 am – 12 pm Note: it is best to attend this event early. In the past candy has run out!

October 31, 2018 – FRIGHTyard at FR8yard Trick or treating and face painting for kids (and dogs!) with live music, games, classic horror films, and more

October 31, 2018 – Trunk or Treat at Drayton Mills Marketplace This event from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm will include candy, face painting, a photo booth, and more!

October 31, 2018Trick or Treat at Haywood Mall The event will take place at Belk Court and will include live appearances of Vampirina and other Disney Junior characters. 6 pm – 9 pm.

Community and Church Fall Festivals and Trunk or Treat Events

Many churches and community groups offer fun trunk-or-treat events, Halloween festivals, or Fall Festivals that are Halloween alternatives. If you would like to add your event to this list please email Bethany at [email protected]

October 20, 2018-  Fall Festival at Faith Baptist Church Simpsonville from 6 pm – 8 pm. Enjoy games, candy, pinatas and prizes at this free community event.

October 25, 2018 – Community Fall Festival from 4 pm – 7 pm at Stewart Park. A family-friendly event with games, free food, music, and more.

October 27, 2018 – Halloween Spooktacular from 6 pm – 8 pm at Middle Tyger YMCA. This event is open to the entire community. It is free and includes trunk or treat, games, inflatables, food, and more.

October 28, 2018 – Revolution’s Trunk or Treat 2018 at 4 pm at Revolution Martial Arts

October 28, 2018 – New Beginnings UMC Trunk or Treat at 5:30 pm is open to the community.

October 28, 2018 – St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church Trunk or Treat at 6 pm will also include a trunk show for moms and dads to shop.

October 28, 2018 – Poplar Springs Baptist Church Trunk or Treat at 5 pm with bounce houses, hot dogs, touch a truck and more.

October 31, 2018 – Kars R Us Trunk or Treat from 1 pm – 5:30 pm includes trunk or treat, a bounce house, prizes, and more.

October 31, 2018 – Happy Halloween Candy Palooza 2018 from 3 pm – 6 pm ay Cleveland Park

October 31, 2018 – Trunk or Treat from 6 pm – 8 pm at the Church at the Mill (Anderson Mill).

October 31, 2018 – Halloween on Main in Woodruff from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

October 31, 2018 – Trunk or Treat with WBC Kids at 6 pm at Wellford Baptist Church

October 31, 2018 – Lyman Wesleyan Church Trunk or Treat at 6 pm is open to the community.

October 31, 2018 – Lake Bowen Baptist Church Fall Festival at 6 pm is open to the community with trunk-or-treat, inflatables, hayrides, food and more.

Halloween Fun That is Worth the Drive

September 15 – October 28, 2018The Great Pumpkin Fest at Carowinds is a massive Halloween event complete with trick or treating through the amusement park for the youngest park visitors. It takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am – 5 pm. *Teens and brave adults will want to check out Scarowinds which takes place during the evenings.

October 5 – 28, 2018 – The Great Pumpkin Patch Express is a train ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad complete with the Peanuts gang and a stop at the Great Pumpkin Patch.

October 27, 2018 – Halloweenfest | Downtown Brevard, Transylvania, NC Pumpkin carving contest, costume contests, parade, street vendors and more in Downtown Brevard from 10 am – 5 pm Free!

October 27, 2018- Halloween Trunk-or-Treat Spooktacular at Table Rock State Park. Enjoy trunk or treating and games in the parking lot near Pinnacle Pavilion. This event is free with regular admission to the park. 6 pm – 7:30 pm
