Public Schools in Spartanburg

The public school system in Spartanburg County is unique. Rather than having each school in the county under one county school board, Spartanburg’s schools are divided into seven different school districts based on locations. The zone for each school is specific to your home address, so you will need to check with your realtor and the school district to determine which specific schools your children will attend. You can also visit and input your address into the tax assessor’s page to determine which district you are in.

If you want to find more specific information about each district, please see our Guide to Spartanburg County School Districts. This guide has information about where to find district maps, quick facts about the number of students and graduation rates, and registration information.

For our public school list, we are only listing each Spartanburg School District and its high schools. By clicking the District link, you can access the district website to find the elementary, intermediate, and middle schools.

School Choice options vary depending on the Spartanburg school district. Additionally, school choice generally only applies to schools within the same district.

You may apply for Out-of-District Attendance according to a provision of SC law allowing parents to request their child attend a school outside of their residential area. If the student qualifies (age, current immunizations, and is in good standing) and is accepted, then the parent will pay tuition based on various factors including the previous year’s local revenue. Out-of-District attendance is evaluated each year.

We love Spartanburg Prep! They really tailor the curriculum to suit the individual needs of each student and the staff is so warm and welcoming! My daughter has really thrived this year in kindergarten!

The faculty and staff are so quick to respond to any questions or concerns that I have. Just recently I emailed the principal and she emailed me back within an hour. She really does care deeply about her students. I love the community that Spartanburg Prep has. It feels like a family. I love that the classes are divided up by gender. My daughter is in an all girl’s class for most of her day…They also have a wonderful gifted and talented student program.

We absolutely love Spartanburg Preparatory School. Since day one we have been welcomed as family. Every single adult at the school cares for the emotional, educational, and physical well being of the students. The abundant extracurricular activities allow for every student who desires enrichment to find their niche. Chess club, Beta club, soccer, cross country, basketball and more are offered at SPS. As an SPS parent, I am an active part of my children’s education thanks to the wonderful lines of communication.
