A variety of athletic summer camps are hosted by Wofford for kids 6 and up. CREATEng is the Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics’ one-of-a-kind engineering and design thinking  four-day camp for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Working through project-based, hands-on team challenges, students learn what engineering is and what engineers do. These four-day camps are held at various locations around the state throughout the summer. The Greenville camp is June 22nd – 25th, 2020 at Sterling School at Charles Towne Center.

Each summer the John F. Green Spartanburg Science Center offers a wide range of classes and camps for children ages 6 – rising 8th graders. Classes and camps are held weekly. Morning sessions are 9am – Noon and afternoon sessions run 1–4pm.

A rigorous three week-long summer experience for students of chamber music (string players, flutists, oboists or pianists) held at Converse College. Students must apply and submit an audition recording.

USC Upstate Athletic Camps

A variety of sports camps are offered through USC Upstate for children starting at age 6. Each camp is hosted by a different athletic coaches or sponsors at USC Upstate. Camp options include baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball. See their website for individual camp information.

The Watershed Summer Camps at USC Upstate provide fun, educational camp experience for kids in 1st – 3rd grade or kids in 4th- 6th grade.

GoSciTech

GoSciTech is the Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics’ (GSSM) annual residential summer science camp, designed for rising 8th, 9th, and 10th graders. Courses offered during the camp include Pre-Med & Anatomy, Marine Biology, Science and the Law, Codes and Cryptography, and many more! Courses are taught by GSSM faculty, college and university professors, and experts working in the field. Camp is held at GSSM’s Hartsville, SC campus. The application deadline is May 15th.

USC Upstate Academic Outreach Camp

In collaboration with BMW Manufacturing and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, USC Upstate offers this unique camp to rising seniors in Spartanburg, Cherokee, Greenville, Union and Laurens counties. There is no cost to attend; however, campers must apply and be selected to attend. The 2020 Camp Session spans the weeks of June 15th -19th and 22nd-26th.

Camp Love-a-Pet

This is a one-week day camp at the Spartanburg Humane Society for students in 5th-10th grade. Campers who love animals will enjoy this camp that focuses on training a shelter dog and learning about animal welfare issues.

The Spartanburg Humane Society also offers mini-camps for younger campers that are shorter in duration. These camps are for campers in 3rd and 4th grade. This camp teaches students basic training techniques.

iTeams Xtreme: Next Generation

One of the SC Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics’ summer camps, iTEAMS Xtreme Next Generation provides rising 6th, 7th and 8th grade students with “awesome experiences, hands-on projects, and competitions using robots or game design software” during a “four-day immersion into the world of robotics or 2D/3D game design”–all with other students who share a passion for technology! These four-day camps are held at various locations around the state throughout the summer. The Greenville camp is June 15th – 18th, 2020 at Sterling School at Charles Towne Center.

International Ballet

A great introduction to ballet and an opportunity for students to “get their feet wet” with daily ballet class. Camps also include fun with costumes, stage make-up, and performance practice.  Students perform a short presentation for friends and family the last day of their camp session.

SC School for the Deaf and Blind Summer Camps

SC School for the Deaf and Blind has a free one-week summer camp for any child between the ages of 6-14 with visual or hearing impairment in the state of South Carolina. The camp is packed full of traditional summer camp activities (i.e. horseback riding, swimming, crafts, cooking class, technology). Students stay on the campus for the week, but there is also a day option.

Coast 2 Coast Kids

Wofford Shared Worlds

Shared Worlds is a unique writing camp for rising 8th-12th graders who enjoy writing fantasy and science fiction. Students get the opportunity to work with professional writers and bestselling authors. Apply by April 1st on the website. The 2020 camp is July 19th – August 1st.

Ballet Spartanburg

Ballet Spartanburg will host more than 20 different camps throughout the summer for children beginning at age 2. Camps and classes range in duration from one hour, half day or full day.

YMCA Summer Camp

A variety of half- and full-day camps from June 8-August 14, 2020. Ages 3-13. Registration is available for both Middle Tyger Family YMCA and Thomas E. Hannah YMCA.

Camp Little Brave is a camp hosted by the YMCA for children 3-4 years old on Mondays-Fridays from 9am-1pm. Children will make crafts, play games and have weekly swimming lessons. Cost varies depending on membership.

In addition, YMCA offers several different sports or specialty camps (such as soccer, equestrian and fishing camps) with various dates, age groups and costs. Please see the website for specific information about registering for these camps.

USC Upstate Drama Camps

USC Upstate offers three different drama/theatre summer day camps for children in 2nd – 12th grades (depending on the camp). Camps include Technical Theatre Camp, Movement and Dance Camp, and Youth Summer Drama Camp.

Camp Mary Elizabeth

Experience camp in the heart of Spartanburg.  Open to ALL rising 1st – 6th graders.  Day camp includes traditional camp activities like hiking, swimming in the Junior Olympic size pool, games, archery, campfires, and skill building, as well as themed activities and guest speakers. Girls can select to spend Thursday night cooking an outdoor meal, taking part in a campfire, and a slumber party in the Lodge. Week-long camp sessions begin June 2 and end on August 7, with each week costing $175. Early arrival and late stay are available.
