  • June 8-12- Space: Calling future astronauts and space explorers! Join us for a week of out of this world activities and exhibit challenges about aliens, planets and constellations with a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 15-19- Great Outdoors: Let’s bring the outdoors in as we learn about plants, creepy crawlies, pretend to go camping and more! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 22-26- Summer Fun: Join us this week to celebrate all the joys of summer! From ice cream, to fishing, to amusement park challenges, this camp will be a fun kick-off on the week of the summer solstice. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • June 29-July 3- Ocean Life: Let’s pretend to have a week at the beach as we explore the deep blue seas on land! We’ll be learning about lots of different sea creatures and participating in creative water challenges. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 6-10- Jurassic Park: Join us for a week of prehistoric fun as we learn about dinosaurs, create our own and let them invade our exhibits! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 13-17- Animal Explorations: Calling all animal lovers for a week of wild fun. We’ll be exploring and learning about animals in a variety of habitats around the world, including some right in our very own backyards! All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 20-24- Natural Wonders: Join us for an imaginary trip around the world as we explore the wonders that Mother Nature has to offer- from the Grand Canyon, to the Amazon, to the Himalayas, we’ll be learning lots of new things while we recreate what we learn in the museum exhibits. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • July 27-31- Landmarks and Engineering: Join us for another trip around the world, but this time we’ll be exploring the wonders that were made by humans. From the pyramids, to bridges, to the Eiffel Tower, we’ll be learning about principles of engineering and joining in lots of challenges. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.
  • August 3-7- Art Explorations: Calling those who love art, and those who may not yet, but will by the end of this week! We’ll be exploring a different art medium each day, including tie-dye, sculpture and much more. All activities have a focus on S.T.E.A.M., literacy and hands-on play.

COVID-19 Safety Adaptations: Upon arrival, each child’s temperature will be taken via a digital infrared non-contact thermometer—temperature must be below 100.4 to participate. ​Camp staff members will wear masks, but campers are not required to do so. Camp check-in will be facilitated in front of the building to ensure child safety and appropriate supervision. No outside guests will be allowed into camp classrooms. No backpacks, lunch bags or reusable water bottles will be allowed- campers will be asked to bring snacks in disposable bags and water in disposable bottles, all with the campers’ names on them. Campers must practice social distancing at all times and remain with their own class. Materials and supplies will be provided each day; supplies will not be shared. All materials and classrooms will be sanitized overnight, including surfaces and door handles.

Converse co-ed swim team that meets May – July with practices daily and a meet each week.

Spartanburg Science Center

Each summer the John F. Green Spartanburg Science Center offers a wide range of classes and camps for children ages 6 – rising 8th graders. Classes and camps are held weekly. Morning sessions are 9am – Noon and afternoon sessions run 1–4pm.

East Main Arts

Summer Arts Program includes different one-day camps for youth 4-14 years old on various days during the summer in June and July including snacks, bouncy house and playroom fun, and of course, arts and crafts!

Camp Love-a-Pet

This is a one-week day camp at the Spartanburg Humane Society for students in 5th-10th grade. Campers who love animals will enjoy this camp that focuses on training a shelter dog and learning about animal welfare issues.

The Spartanburg Humane Society also offers mini-camps for younger campers that are shorter in duration. These camps are for campers in 3rd and 4th grade. This camp teaches students basic training techniques.

Camp Hope Remains

As part of this summer’s Horse Play experience, children (ages 5-12) are invited to join Camp Hope Remains on select Tuesdays from 9-11 am. A morning of horse activities includes horseback riding, wagon rides, and games with miniature horses.

Inman Theatre Drama Camp

Inman, SC

Kidz on Broadway 3: August 9-14, 2020

Schedule:
9th: 2:30 – 5:30 pm
10th: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
11th-14th: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Ages 9 -18
Cost is $60

This camp will teach older kids more advanced Broadway style theatrical technique. The camp includes scenes from: The Addams FamilyFinding Nemo: The Musical, and Spongebob SquarePants: The Musical. Campers will need to learn the songs prior to camp.

Arts in Motion

AIM has something for everyone–from Disney to Broadway and everything in between! We’re taking ART to a whole new level!  Camps are offered to kids in K2 through 5th grade. Campers can register for a 6-week session or the days that best fit their summer plans. Camps will be held at the Montgomery Dance Studios at Converse College.

YMCA Summer Camp

A variety of half- and full-day camps from June 8-August 14, 2020. Ages 3-13. Registration is available for both Middle Tyger Family YMCA and Thomas E. Hannah YMCA.

Camp Little Brave is a camp hosted by the YMCA for children 3-4 years old on Mondays-Fridays from 9am-1pm. Children will make crafts, play games and have weekly swimming lessons. Cost varies depending on membership.

In addition, YMCA offers several different sports or specialty camps (such as soccer, equestrian and fishing camps) with various dates, age groups and costs. Please see the website for specific information about registering for these camps.

Flourish Girl Power and Independence Camps, held on the campus of Converse College, is “a fun, 2-day camp where girls learn performing and creative arts techniques that help us feel independent and strong — from the inside out!”

USC Upstate offers three different drama/theatre summer day camps for children in 2nd – 12th grades (depending on the camp). Camps include Technical Theatre Camp, Movement and Dance Camp, and Youth Summer Drama Camp.

Sylvan Learning Camps

Sylvan Learning offers over 10 different learning camps to keep students engaged in learning during the summer. Various camps apply hands-on learning, review, and fun for writing, reading, mathematics, science and technology. Wofford Athletics Summer Camps

Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC

A variety of athletic summer camps are hosted by Wofford for kids 6 and up. They host a wide range of sports camps: baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, golf, football, tennis, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, cross country and volleyball. Camps have various start dates, durations and costs.

Out of an abundance of caution, many of the 2020 Wofford Athletics camps have been postponed or canceled. Check the website for more information.

Wired Minds Tutoring

“Bootcamp for the brain,” Wired Minds summer camps are offered throughout the summer, Monday through Friday 9 am – 4:30 pm with early drop-off and late-pickup available. They offer a wide variety of themed weekly camps for students entering 5th-8th grade weekly. Their camps cover STEM and writing. Ballet Spartanburg

Ballet Spartanburg will host more than 20 different camps throughout the summer for children beginning at age 2. Camps and classes range in duration from one hour, half day or full day. Carolina Sports Camp

Camp Sweet Escape

This camp is specifically designed for campers 6-17 years old living with Type I Diabetes. This camp is fun, adventurous and medically safe for those taking more than one insulin injection daily. This year’s Upstate camp will be held July 11-15, 2020 at Awanita Valley Camp in Marietta, SC.
