Are you looking for the best places near Spartanburg and beyond to see holiday lights? This list includes all of the local light displays, not-so-local light displays worthy of a drive, and some local homes that deck it out for Christmas Griswold style.
2020 has seen a lot of holiday changes, but visiting light displays is something everyone can do safely and from the comfort of their heated vehicle! Bring along some blankets and hot cocoa and you have one memorable holiday night that you won’t soon forget.

Drive-Through Holiday Lights
Anderson Christmas Lights opens Thanksgiving Day at 5:30 pm through December 25, 2020. $10 per family car or truck, $20 per a 15-passenger van, $50 for a bus.
Upstate Holiday Light Show at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway Open through December 31, 2020 A drive-through synchronized light show of 32 million lights. Bring cash for concessions.
Holiday Lights Trolley Tours with Main Street Trolley operate throughout the month of December. Tickets are $10.50 each (plus fees) and should be in advance online.
Christmas Lights Festival Featuring Live Nativity at Truth Chapel World Evangelism Fellowship Church. Lights will be on nightly but on December 5th and 6th, there will be a special presentation, snacks (baked goodies and drinks), games, and activities.
- Saturday, December 5, the event will be 6-9 pm, presentation being at 6 pm and again at 8 pm.
- Sunday, December 6, the event will be 5-8 pm, with the presentation being at 5 pm and again at 7 pm.
Holiday Light Safari at Hollywild runs November 20, 2020 – January 2, 2021 from 6 – 9 pm. $7 per person (children under 24 months are free). Admission to the Deer Forest Feeding Drive is an additional $10 per car.
On select dates in December, The Whatta Wash Car Wash in Greer hosts Christmas Car Wash Light Show! For $20, you get a Sparkle Special wash and a light show. A portion of the proceeds will help buy toys and other items for PS I Love You Ministries. And if you bring a new toy, pack of diapers, or wipes to any location, your car gets free C4 Ceramic Glaze all month long.
Lighting Ceremonies and Displays
2020 Festival of Trees – Come see the holiday trees on display during December 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, the Courtyard Marriott Greenville Downtown, Embassy Suites Downtown, and the Hampton Inn & Suites RiverPlace. FREE
Tree Lighting Ceremony at Greer City Park – December 4, 2020 at 7:30 pm. This family-friendly event also includes a visit from Santa.
Lyman Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting (December 5, 2020 4:30 to 7 pm)
Community Menorah Lighting at NOMA Square December 23, 2020 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm
Spectacular Home Light Displays
The Christmas House – Located at 360 Foster Road, Inman

A local favorite, this family welcomes visitors to see their home Christmas light display nightly during the season.
Plan for traffic! Open for viewing from Thanksgiving through December 31, 2019. This display has over 100,000 lights and is drive-through.

Wonderland on School Street – Located at 380 School Street, Duncan
This home features approximately 30,000 lights. The display is open from November 8 – December 25, 2020. Santa Claus visits Fridays and Saturdays from 7 – 9 pm starting on November 27, weather permitting.

Light Displays Worth the Drive
Winter Lights at NC Arboretum (November 20, 2020 – January 10, 2021) Open nightly from 5:30 – 10:30 pm. This beautiful light display event tends to sell out, so purchase tickets in advance! The 2020 Winter Lights is a drive-thru experience and tickets are priced per car.

Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway – (November 21, 2020 – January 17, 2021) More than 4,000,000 lights over a 3.75-mile course at the Charlotte Speedway. Speedway Christmas will also host a drive-in movie Thursday – Sunday nights.

Christmas Town, USA in McAdenville, NC (December 1 – 26, 2020) This nearby town decks out completely for Christmas. You can either park and walk around the town or drive through (the 1.3 miles takes approximately 30-40 minutes to drive through). The lights are on nightly from 5:30 – 10 pm.

Holiday Lights on the River in Columbia, SC
Over a million lights on the 2-mile loop of the park. Includes a laser light show, hayrides, zip-line, Santa, and more. Admission is $20 a family car. Additional fees apply for activities.
