Mom Review: Ira’s Chicken

Posted on | No Comments

Looking for something new for dinner? Greer’s new dining addition, Ira’s Chicken, might be the answer. It’s quickly becoming a fan favorite. You’ll find scratch made chicken and sides that KAG’s Melanie reports is absolutely fantastic!

About Ira’s Chicken

You know how when you eat at a place so good, it stays in your mind tempting your taste buds with the food you enjoyed? Well Ira’s Chicken is one of those places. We recently ate there, and I haven’t stopped thinking about since.

This place is the whole package. The people are nice, the place is spotless, the food is made from scratch and boy is it good! I believe it’s what people in the south would call, “slap yo mamma good”.

Disclaimer – I do not condone violence, and truth be told I ate there with my mother and refrained from slapping her. If you feel unsure about your ability to control yourself, I strongly suggest you steer clear of the house made pickles. The good news is they sell them by the jar and you can enjoy them away from everyone. Just to be safe.

Arriving at Ira’s, you’ll be greeted by a pretty straight forward menu. All the chicken is boneless breast or thigh, fried or grilled and seasoned with the option of heat. You can enjoy the chicken as is, or as a sandwich or salad. They also have a chicken and waffles entree on the menu that I am excited to try next time.

Ira’s Chicken Sides

The harder decision to make is choosing just one or two sides. The Mac & Cheese is southern casserole style and is made with lots of cheese. The coleslaw is creamy and delicious, just like I love it! Of the three sides we tried, I think our favorite was the sweet potato fries. They come topped with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar, and we were fighting over them. Other side dish offerings include home cut fries, baked beans, collards and fried grits with tomato jam. I plan to try the Fried grits and tomato jam with that order of chicken and waffles!

You’ll place your order and grab your drink at the self serve counter, with your food being delivered to your table minutes later.

Kids Eat Free

Families with kids will love Ira’s for their kids eat free night! Monday nights from 5-8, kids 12 and under receive a free nugget kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal. Kids meals include nuggets with mac & cheese or fries, a drink, and a cup of ice cream. Any other time the kids meal is just $4.95.

If you save room for dessert, Ira’s offers soft serve ice cream, milkshakes and buttermilk and bourbon pecan pies that are scratch made!

I hope you find your way to Ira’s soon to enjoy the home made goodness they are serving up.

Don’t forget to grab one of those jars of pickles to bring home. Trust Me.
