Posted on | No Comments

Are you looking for things to do in Spartanburg this November? We have you covered with all the family-friendly events happening this month in and around Spartanburg. As you will see, November is stuffed full of holiday fun, live shows, and more!

Well Halloween is behind us and here we are in November, the month where you never know what to expect outside.  Will you be facing one of those brilliant warm fall days where you have to get outside or one of those icky, cold, wet days when you get trapped inside with your kids fighting. Well, we have our fellow parents covered on Kidding Around Spartanburg with a list that includes everything from really fun indoor events to fabulous outdoor festivals. And, if the kids argue too much, we even have a couple places where you can pay a little money to drop them off for a few hours to have fun while you sip on that latte in a quiet coffee shop.

This post contains non-paid mentions of many of our sponsors & partners (because they are awesome and we can’t stop talking about them).

Arts in Motion is proud to present their first fall performance! This original production, TURN THE PAGE, is for children of all ages! The show is set in the library at night time, and the audience is transported as the storybook characters leap to life from the pages of their books! Weaving together various childhood favorites like Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland, TURN THE PAGE reminds us that we are surrounded by stories that shape us, and we ALL have a story to tell! These stories help us understand the world and the people around us, which will help us write a better story together!

Educational Events

Here’s your chance to prove to your kids that all those facts they are learning in school aren’t the least bit boring! P.S. Almost all of these are free.

Roper Mountain Science Center for Starry Nights is an excellent way to spend your Friday evening. In the meantime, November marks the final Second Saturday for 2019! The Fall Festival happens Saturday, November 11th from 9 am – 3 pm. Prices are $8/adults & teens and $7/children or you can purchase an annual membership for an affordable fee.

P.S. I love the RMSC membership. Read all about how it saved my family tons of money here.

And, you can just take that membership or your Zoo membership and also plan a visit to the Western NC Nature Center in November too. It always seems like this is the time of year that my family ends up there and it’s really a beautiful time to visit Asheville.

Lego enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Lego Block Parties at the Cyrill-Westside Library branch on November 11th from 4:30 – 5:30 pm and November 25th from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm.

If you have not visited The Children’s Museum of the Upstate Spartanburg location, this is a great month to visit!

Theatre & Shows

We have plenty of kid friendly shows going on this November in Spartanburg and Greenville. We even have some that your toddler will love (and that doesn’t happen every month of the year).

November 2, 2019, 9:30 am & 11:00 am – South Carolina Children’s Theater’s Temporary Headquarters puts on a production with young children in mind. They can come out to see an adorable story acted out in the theater. Come see a performance of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Tickets are $10.50

The Greer Children’s Theatre is performing Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical the weekends of November 8th and November 15th.

Spartanburg Philharmonic presents Homegrown on November 22nd at 6:30 pm at Chapman Cultural Center.

Disney on Ice: Celebrating Memories at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on November 27th – December 1st.

Fall Festivals & Holiday Craft Fairs

Shopping local is both cool and good for our community. We have a LOT of great suggestions for you, but here’s a start with some great festivals and holiday markets.

Head to the Spartanburg Marriott for Junior League of Spartanburg’s Santa’s Shoppe event from November 7th –  November 10th.

The Cudd Memorial Christmas Bazaar will be held on November 2nd from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Sports & Fitness

Get out the yoga pants. Here are some great choices for parents wanting some active fun!

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits kicked off their ice hockey season at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in late October. If you have never experienced Greenville hockey, you need to head right out. You have several chances to catch a home game in November, plus there are several cool promotions coming up.

Take your kids to Big Air Trampoline Park for Toddler Time. Every Wednesday & Thursday kids 7 and under can jump from 10 am – 1 pm for just $8! Parents can observe for free or play for $8 too. (Toddler Time is canceled when schools are out for holiday breaks.)

Your little ones can also play at Pump It Up’s Pre-K Open Jump every Tuesday – Thursday from 10 am – 2 pm. Pre-K Open Jump is for kids 2 – 6 only. $6.25 per child and parents play for free!

For those looking to enjoy the great outdoors, this is the perfect time of year to head out to one of our favorite fall parks such as Cleveland Park or Hatcher Garden. And, don’t forget to also get your free national park pass if you have a 4th grader in your family.

Personally, I think the holidays are the perfect time to go to the gym! YMCA of Spartanburg offers two locations and both offer Childwatch so you can work out while your kids play!

The 15th Annual Prisma Health Turkey Day 8K is a  Thanksgiving morning run through downtown Spartanburg.

Just for Fun

Enjoy treats, a craft and a story with Cinderella herself at Once Upon a Dream Parties’ Enchanting Encounter With Cinderella, November 9th, 2019 at 9 am. $12 per child with a free adult. Register in advance.

Don’t forget that you can sign up for a free trial class at Gymboree Play & Music of Greenville (located in nearby Greer)! Our readers love their events and it’s a great time of year to join.

Parents’ Night Out

In November, I know that I’m always looking for an opportunity to be able to shop or spend time with my husband (without kids)! Here are a couple drop-off opportunities for moms & dads who need a fun place for the kids to play while they head out on a date or shopping expedition.

A special Turkey Handprint Kids Night Out Event will take place on November 1st at Hearts of Clay. For $25/child, drop the kids off for a special kids night out creating a special clay turkey at Hearts of Clay. They will be fed dinner.

Pump It Up offers a paid Parents Night Out for children on November 22nd from 6 – 9:30 pm. While you have an evening out, your children will be able to bounce in the inflatables, eat dinner, play games, and make crafts.

It’s the Holidays

Jingle Bells! The holidays are coming and the proof is here. Watch Kidding Around Spartanburg because we have a BIG Winter Guide scheduled and a Shop Local Guide packed with unique local goods planned this month. But for now . . .

If you want to attend The City Of Greer’s Breakfast With Santa this year then mark November 2nd on your calendar!  That’s when tickets go on sale and since there’s only 500 of them they’ll be sure to sell out quickly! Breakfast With Santa itself happens on December 7th.

And, Santa Claus is showing up at Westgate Mall before Thanksgiving with Santa’s Workshop opening TBA.

Happy Birthday

Don’t forget to take advantage of the Pepsi Party Pack if you have a child turning 6 this month (or who turned 6 last month). This package contains area tickets and lots of fun. In fact, my four-year-old is already talking about when she gets hers.

Also, be sure to check out our Birthday Party Guide for lots of great ideas and deals on where to have parties this year!
