Parents have been anxiously awaiting news from Greenville County Schools on if the rest of the school year would be cancelled.

Well, it is. Kids aren’t going back into the classroom this year.

South Carolina announced today that the rest of the 2019-2020 school year would be conducted online due to the impact of the coronavirus. The state certainly isn’t the first to take this course of action and many parents had guessed this would be the case but now we know for sure.

The announcement came from South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, who had been working closely to figure out the best course of action.

Stay tuned to your own particular schools and teachers for specific directions on what comes next and how eLearning will continue or be altered.

The SC Department of Education already announced last month a new grading system based on participation and also said no federal testing will take place this year.

We are incredibly grateful to administrators and teachers who have had to turn their entire education plan for the year on its head at the drop of a hat last month.

And to parents, you’re doing the best you can and we stand (virtually) in solidarity with you during this tough time.
