Spartanburg Soaring! International Kite Festival
Saturday April 13th 11 am-5 pm
248 East Saint John Street
Spartanburg, SC 29306
Our family loved this festival last year, it renewed an interest in kites for us! You can sit back and enjoy the site of a kite filled sky, or join in the fun with a kite from home. Don’t have a kite? One can be purchased at the festival or made at workshops held in the community. The Headquarters Library will be offering a free family workshop for the first 20 participants who sign up, on April 6th. We participated in this last year and got to make a really neat kite. If you have a kite that is in need of a little TLC, there will be a kite doctor at the festival who can help.
This free festival will have more than just kites.
- A kid’s zone will have various events through the day to keep kids occupied. Kidding Around Spartanburg will be there with fun activities!
- A makers market where regional artisans will be selling items. This area is sponsored by Duke Energy and you’ll be happy to know that 100% of the sale price will be kept by the artists.
- Amazing food offerings provided by some Hub City favorites
- Community organizations will be at the festival too! Last year the LOGOS theater had surreal characters roaming the park from their current production.

This free event has tons to see and do! Live music, vendors, children’s activities and more. There is so much to see, it takes three days! We enjoy this festival every year. I suggest strollers, snacks for bottled water for children. Trying to see and do everything can make the little ones tired and hungry.

Artisphere: Arts. Culture. Life.
Friday May 10th 12 pm-8 pm
Saturday May 11th 10 am-8 pm
Sunday May 12th 11 am-6 pm
This free three day festival has something for everyone. There are artisan vendors, children’s activities, food and music. You might be surprised at what catches your children’s eye and sparks their interest! We made a new friend in the artisans that work with The Heirloom Companies. My son was captivated by the welding that was being done, and the artist Jared was thrilled to see a young child take interest in something that most children don’t show interest in. We left with a memento and a new friend.
I encourage you and your family to go to this festival and see what sparks your child’s interest.
